THE FILTH BEHIND THE SCATOMANTIC CULT

Upper Decker emerged from the French underground in 2022 with one simple mission: to drag death metal somewhere it probably never asked to go.

Blending old-school death metal, brutal death, grindcore and groove with an unhealthy obsession for all things foul, the band developed its own tongue-in-cheek identity: Scatomantic Death Metal — filthy, heavy and unapologetically absurd, but always built around riffs, groove and sheer live energy.

The first chapter came with Family Dinner, initially released digitally as an EP in 2023 before returning in expanded full-length form through Great Dane Records in 2024. The following year, Upper Decker descended further into the sewers with its second album, The Scatonomicon, released in May 2025 through France Black Death Grind.

Along the way, tracks from the band have surfaced on underground compilations around the world, including releases by Rotten Records, France Black Death Grind, Metal Explosion and Imperative Music, spreading the Scatomantic gospel well beyond its native French cesspit.

On stage, Upper Decker turns the concept into what it was always meant to be: loud, physical and stupidly fun. Beneath the questionable subject matter lies a band driven by crushing riffs, blast beats, filthy grooves and the simple desire to make a room move.

After bringing the filth to new stages in France and abroad, including Munky Pride Festival in Latvia in 2026, Upper Decker entered its next chapter with new material in the works and a two-track promotional demo on the horizon.

The Scatomantic cult is still growing. And the sewers are far from empty.

Gaara : Vocals

A seemingly harmless creature — until he sets foot on stage. Once the first note hits, he transforms into a convulsing, crowd-diving projectile, bouncing around like a spring-loaded flea while unleashing gutturals from somewhere no reasonable human anatomy should allow. Approach with caution once amplified.

Uwe: Bass

Devoted servant of the low frequencies. He tolerates guitars only because someone has to fill the space between bass notes. His ultimate goal is simple: eradicate unnecessary frequencies and establish a new world order under the absolute domination of bass.

Tral: Guitar

Dreadlocked, scruffy and decorated with an impressive collection of stupid tattoos. Somehow capable of turning equally stupid ideas into strangely intricate guitar lines, twisted riffs and unexpected grooves — all carefully engineered in service of the sacred art of Scatomancy.

C : Drums

A dreadlocked force of nature fueled by pure energy and dangerously spicy food. Hitting the kit with the subtlety of a collapsing building, he provides the relentless blasts, grooves and sheer physical power behind the Scatomantic machinery. The hotter the sauce, the harder he hits.

A brief history of bad decisions.
